In 2003 I grew tired of earning a living building databases and living in central London. Since then I’ve worked as a photographer, diver, travel writer and boatdriver in some of the most undeveloped and remote parts of the world.

I’ve driven Zodiacs in the Indian Ocean, the Antarctic and the Arctic, worked on conservation projects in the Ecuadorian Andes, surveyed horse-mussel beds off the Llyn peninsula in north Wales and updated the Bradt Guide to Mozambique.

I've just been appointed as the Boating Officer at Rothera, the British Antarctic Survey base down on the Antarctic Peninsula. This is most exciting and something of a dream come true - I've wanted to work for BAS for over 12 years.
